training classes (sardines belong in a can on the grocer's
shelf, NOT on a boat or a dive site !!!).

numbers of divers traveling together as well as interesting

The PADI Open Water Diver Certification is a FULL
certification you earn by successfully completing the entire
PADI Open Water Diver Course.
The complete PADI Open Water Diver Certification Course
consists of the following parts:
- Independent Study (allow 4-6 hours study time)
- Academic Review and Examination with Instructor (allow 4
hours)
- 5 Confined Water Demonstrations and Practice Sessions
(allow 4-6 hours)
- 4 Open Water Dives (allow 2 days of diving, about 4-5
hours each day).
You
can start at any point in the program!
If you do the Academic Review and Confined Water Sessions
BEFORE you meet with us, all you will need to do is the 4 Open
Water Dives!
This saves you a lot of precious vacation time .. and you
will save a lot of money at the same time!
We believe that there is a correct way of learning to dive,
and that there are many "less-than-correct-ways" as
well.
Once we "sign-off" on your certification card, we
are telling the rest of the diving world that you are "qualified"
to dive and that they can expect high level of dive
proficiencies from you.
We take this VERY
seriously.
We believe that the VERY best option is for
you to do your academics and confined water sessions at a dive
center near your home BEFORE you come to Kauai. This way, you
can learn the skills required for certification at YOUR pace,
and not be rushed or hurried because of scheduling or economic
concerns.
Accordingly, our time is then BEST spent with you in the 4
open water dives, and we adjust your tuition fees accordingly.
We also understand that it is GREAT FUN to earn your
certification while on vacation as well. So, we have a
Special Referral Program in place
that will allow you to do the academic studies at home before
you arrive on Kauai, and then we will "take over"
from there.
Our 3-day vacation course
is CHALLENGING and FUN !!!
We give you not only all of the basic teachings and
instructions that you will need in order to earn your
certification, but we make certain that you learn how to
safely and properly enjoy scuba diving instead of simply learn
to "survive" scuba diving !!!
We STRONGLY believe that you will learn more and will
graduate a better diver by having only one Instructor
throughout your entire certification process ... this way,
NOTHING is missed and YOUR Instructor knows YOU and what YOU
need to do !!!
When it comes to your
safety and learning, we believe that ... LESS is MORE !!!
We ENCOURAGE your friends to participate in the learning
... and we offer DISCOUNTS for certified divers that would
like to "tag" with you while doing your open water

The PADI Open Water Diver Certification qualifies you to:
- Dive independently while applying the knowledge and
skills you learn in the course, within the limits of your
training and experience
- scuba equipment and other services
- Plan, conduct and log open water no-stop (no
decompression) dives when equipped properly and accompanied
by a buddy in conditions with which you have training and/or
experience
- Continue your diver training with a specialty dive in the
PADI Adventures in Diving Program, and/or in other PADI
Specialty courses.

Remember ... classes are paid for but certifications are
earned. If you decide not to continue in the classes or courses,

We cannot and do not promise that you will pass the
certification process (but most of our student DO successfully
complete their courses and earn their certifications), since
these certifications are "performance based".
We do promise you that if conditions are favorable to do so,
Scuba Steve's Scuba Shack will provide training and instruction
for your classes, enabling you to earn your certification.
Again, if YOU are unable to perform and/or YOU decide not to
complete your classes, we will NOT refund any monies to you. If
WE are unable to perform for any reason, then we will gladly
pro-rate your tuition based upon the time and expenses we have
